The inventor's practical guide

Social factors

Legality:

Many products are governed by laws, regulations, or standards. Organizations such as CSA, ULC, and ISO can hinder a product's commercial success if it does not comply with applicable standards. Therefore, it is crucial to thoroughly research any standards that might apply to your invention.

Security:

As mentioned in the previous paragraph, some products are subject to strict regulations. Although various organizations conduct inspections to protect consumers, it is still possible for a product to pose a danger when used.

The community:

Some products meet strongly felt consumer needs and thus provide the entire community with the opportunity to significantly change its lifestyle habits.

The environment :

In recent years, environmental protection has become a major issue, central to numerous debates and playing a significant role in our daily lives. Over time, our consumer habits have evolved, moving towards a better balance with the natural world around us. This growing awareness has influenced our consumption patterns and must therefore be considered when launching a new product.

Politics:

Several organizations, such as the League of Human Rights, Greenpeace, and the Society of Saint John the Baptist, influence public consumption habits and must therefore be taken into account. Indeed, it is preferable for a new product to respect the ideas of such organizations rather than to contradict them.
